Overview

The project comprises the demolition of a neighbouring bungalow and construction of a standalone block to convert Gt Kimble Infant School to a primary school.

The new block provides 2 additional classrooms, a new main hall and associated accommodation together with external works on a sloping site.
The compact design was developed in close consultation with all stakeholders.

The planning process was sensitive with the site being in Green Belt and AONB.

Following appointment, we identified a number of areas in the procured feasibility study proposals where we could improve the organisation, buildability / cost and design aesthetics.

  • Appointed following a competitive tender.

  • Prepared concept studies based on previous viability study.

  • Small, tight site in Green Belt and AONB, with complex levels.

  • Managed stakeholder consultations Bucks CC Project Officer, School representatives and local residents and parents.

  • Managed tender and selection process for main contractor.

  • Managed the team through production, tender and construction stages.

The new accommodation comprises:

  • 2 KS 2 classrooms with cloaks areas

  • New School Hall / Dining

  • Kitchen

  • Pupil toilets

  • External learning space

The design benefits from attention to detail internally and externally

in particular with some intricate brick detailing.
