Denham Village School
The project comprises new accommodation to facilitate the school changing from an infants school to a primary school. The design is on a tight site in green belt and is connected to a Grade II listed building.
Work started on site April 2020 and was completed in February 2021.
It was developed in close consultation with all stakeholders, including the Listed Buildings Officer. We considered construction access and buildability issues to enable the constraints of the operational school environment to be successfully managed.
Initial viability and feasibility studies.
Prepared concept studies following detailed analysis.
Small, tight semi-urban site.
Managed stakeholder consultations - Bucks CC Project Officer, School representatives and local residents and parents.
Green Belt site with the existing building being Grade II Listed.
Managed the team through preparation of planning application and Listed Building Consent Application.
The new accommodation comprises:
Main school hall
Internal adaptations to convert existing hall to two class
External learning space
Great care has been taken to design a contemporary addition to the existing school accommodation which is sensitive to and respectful of the original Grade II listed building.
