Overview

Parma, Hemp Lane

Overview

We were appointed in 2020 by our clients to carry out a deep, low energy, refurbishment of their recently purchased chalet bungalow. The brief included the replacement of the existing first floor with an all new, timber framed first floor and roof.

We produced a series of concept designs varying the extent of alterations to the existing ground floor level for the client to review and select, based on available budget.

The design chosen by our clients balances the extent of intervention at ground floor with the changes to the layout and cost. The rear of the house is opened up to create a kitchen / dining / living space which takes advantage of the southerly aspect and the wonderful views. To the front of the house there is a TV room / snug and guest bedroom.

At first floor, there is a master bedroom with ensuite, three further bedrooms and family bathroom. These are all arranged around a galleried landing.

Externally, the house is finished in a mixture of render and timber cladding, with aluminium clad timber windows and a flat roof which accommodates an extensive array of PV panels supplying electricity for the house and powering the air source heat pump.

A Pre Application Consultation was submitted in January 2021, with planning permission granted in June 2021 and work commencing later in the summer of that year.
